My diet kiss of death

Everytime I start a diet.  I start all gung ho, willpower in tact, ready to tackle my fat cells for the last time.  Everything goes well for a few weeks.  Then I start getting the comments.  The nice comments.

"Have you lost weight?"
"You look great!"

Those are awesome and I really appreciate them.

But they kill me.  Something inside of me says, oh, I already look good.  That one cupcake won't hurt.  Just one more piece of pizza.  And then I'm back where I started, feeling gross, and puffy and fat.

I'm there now, trying to make a sharp U-turn though.  Starting fresh today and going to MAKE myself work out everyday.  At least do something to get me moving.

That's all, just a short glimpse inside my head at the moment.

Did I miss Easter?

Uh no, I just keep meaning to blog about it and then get busy and forget.

The boys and I had an action packed three day weekend. Friday, we drove across town to see a friend of mine and her new sweet, adorable squishy little boy. The boys LOVE babies. And no, that does not mean I need another one.

I also got my hair chopped and glorified. I’m a blonde again, my Barbie hair is back. (no pics yet)

Then after Logan asking me 18 bajillion times if we could dye our easter eggs I finally caved. They had fun.

They decided they needed to blow on them to help them dry so we could move on to phase 2, stickers.

Saturday, there was some activities for the kids at our church. The snack was a Resurrection Roll. They took a marshmallow, rolled it in butter and cinnamon/sugar, then wrapped it in a crescent roll…then more cinnamon/sugar. When they were baked and you broke into them they were empty. The marshmallow was gone, just like Jesus in the tomb.

And they were pretty tasty too.

Sunday, we spent the day at my Aunts house and then moved to my Sister in Law’s house were all the kids were.

My mom brought confetti eggs to my Aunts.

More egg hunting.

Jack is just getting to where he will jump on the trampoline (but only by himself). He was running around in circles singing “Hosaaaanna, Hosanna in the highest” one of the songs we sang at church that morning.

Right after I pressed stop on the recording he said, “Mommy, I’m getting tired.” Wish I’d recorded just a few seconds longer, because he never stopped moving when he said that.

The boys were covered in dirt and full of sugar by the time we got home. I’d call that a success.

Bad Jokes by Logan

I had to post this one before I forgot it. He said it was a Laffy Taffy joke, but I think it's too bad even for those.

What did yes say to no?

Maybe

Get it? Yes, No, maybe? Yea me neither.

My son, Logan

This morning I had to take the boys to school because Mike had an early morning meeting. It’s usually pretty hectic because it throws the boys (and me) off our normal routine. I like to get them up extra early to counteract the whining, moaning and general craziness.

We had dropped Jack off at daycare and Logan’s school doesn’t open until 7:15am so we drove through McD’s.

We got to the school and pulled up in the drive and parked, waiting for the door. Logan got up in the front seat with me. And he just started talking. About the book he was reading, about the stuff he was doing at school. Just about a lot of stuff. It was really nice to just sit with my baby who is growing up so fast. I still remember the day he was born…and the first thoughts when I saw him.

- That’s a baby?! He’s huge! (8lbs 7 oz, 21.5inches long)
- He looks just like my Dad!

And now he’s almost 9. So close to being a teenager, as he tells me every day.

Its days like this that I stop and think of how lucky I am that I get to be HIS Mom. That God thought I was good enough for this perfect little man. It’s a lot of responsibility. I know I do things wrong. When I do I apologize to him (to Logan and God) and I tell myself to do things differently, to be better for him.
This man changed my LIFE. He makes me laugh daily. He is such a good kid so that makes me feel like I’m doing something right.

I love that he has such a goofy sense of humor. That he loves to read, just like me. That he loves his little brother so much. That he tries so hard to please us. That he is a video game-aholic. That little sprinkle of freckles across his nose and cheeks.

I love him.
